A new voice in the firmament of carnatic music, Ajay kumar P.V popularly known as Ajay Namboodiri started learning music at the age of twelve under the able tutelage of Sri. Kalmadi Sadashiva Acharya of Kasaragod in Kerala.


He continued his studies under Sri. Palai C.K. Ramachandran, a renowned exponent of the carnatic music. His advanced training in music was under the great teacher sangeetha Mahopadhyaya Prof.T.R.Subrahmanyam.

At present he is a disciple of Sri. Neyveli Santhana Gopalan one of the leading lights of contemporary carnatic music. His training under Shri. Neyveli Santhana Gopalan in the past three years has virtually been a kind of Gurukula Vaasa and has aided him to imbibe the distinctive 'Neyveli Bani' in all its classical and aesthetic dimensions.

Ajay, a graded artist of AIR Trivandrum has a brilliant academic record in the field of music. He obtained his B.A. Degree in music from the University of Calicut and M.A. and M.Phil in music from Faculty of Fine Arts (University of Delhi).

Musical Journey:

In between his academic pursuits and after completing his academic studies, Ajay put his knowledge to good use by taking up various professional assignments. These included stints as a music teacher at Shruthilaya School of Music Payyannur, Programme Coordinator of Pulleri Productions Calicut, Assistant Producer of Asianet and as Executive Producer with Bharathi T.V., Zee Network Chennai.

Performances:

Ajay, son of Late Advocate P.V.K. Namboodiri has been performing since 1991 in several prestigious sabhas,temples and cultural organisations all over India. His potential has been well recognised and appreciated by prominent sabhas in chennai like Krishna Ghana Sabha,Bramha Ghana Sabha ,Bharathiya Vidhya Bhavan,Hamsadwani,Partha sarathy, Karthik Fine Arts and Sriranjani .He has also performed at Paris ( France) in Tyagaraja Festival Oct-2006 ( He is a recipient of ' The National Talent Scholarship Award from HRD Ministry Govt. of India.' And has been honoured as Asthana Vidwan of Kanchi Matt in the year 2008. He has also sung devotional songs for private music albums.

Presently, Ajay is running an institution named VISWA KALA PEETAM(A centre for Musical Excellence) guided and supported by Shri.Neyveli R Santhana Gopalan .The centre mainly aims at encouraging young talents in the music field and strive towards overall excellence. He also has students in U.S.A and U.K learning through online.
